SHEN Lizhen is the visiting scholar of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. She is a professor in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Nanjing University, as well as Associate Chair of the Department of Urban Planning and a  master tutor. She is a national registered planner, a member of the Urban Geography Committee of the Chinese Geographical Society and a member of the Ecological City Committee of China, Member of the Detailed Planning Professional Committee of the Jiangsu Urban Planning Research Association, and Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Smart City Research Base..

Professor Shen engages mainly  in the fields  of urban and regional planning theory and method, the space of flows, smart cities, and urban design. 

Professor Shen awards and honors include the Natural Resources Science and Technology Award (Scientific and Technological Progress Award), First Prize for Outstanding Design Achievements from the Department of Construction of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Third Prize for Outstanding Survey and Design in the Jiangsu Urban-Rural Construction System, First and Second Prizes in the 2021 Outstanding Paper Awards by the Jiangsu Tourism Society, and membership in the Innovation Team of the High-Level Science and Technology Talent Program of the Ministry of Natural Resources. 

Professor Shen has directed two projects concerning the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has participated in 5 projects of National Natural Science Foundation Research. She has published four books, including "The Space of flows", and more than fifty academic theses. She has been recognized with the College Model Teacher Award, Teaching Excellence Award and Outstanding Contribution Award. She has served as the advisor of multiple award-winning class projects in competitions both nationally and internationally, and supervised students in receiving the University Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis and Outstanding Master’s Thesis awards.
